In the Spring of 2016, Hancock was approached by Bishop DuBourg High School in south St. Louis city with a dilemma they have encountered, a lack of boys participating in football. According to Bishop DuBourg’s administration, nearly half of their football program was scheduled to graduate in 2016, leaving a gaping hole in the football program. A storied program, their options were limited; find a way to get more players or see the program possibly disappear. It was at this point the idea of a cooperative sponsorship became possible.
Hancock students take a bus to Bishop DuBourg each day after school for practices and games. This endeavor has provided an opportunity for young men who would not be participating in any sport to find their place on the gridiron.
